Interior Design Trends To watch Out For in 2023

Earth Tones, Formal Accents, and Statement Glass Take the Spotlight

In the past few years, earth tones have been ruling the interior design scene, and three years on, they continue to be prevalent. Alongside that, we are seeing formal accents making a comeback, adding a touch of sophistication to the laid-back mid-century luxe that still dominates. Furthermore, we can see brutalism creeping in, but it's more of a nod to it than a complete overhaul. Here are the top interior design trends to look out for in 2023.

Earth Tones Still Reigning Supreme

The earth tones trend has been one of the most significant interior design trends in recent years, and it shows no signs of slowing down. The pandemic has made us all more conscious of our surroundings, and many of us have turned to earthy, natural hues to create a sense of calm and tranquillity in our homes. Expect to see more muted greens, warm browns, and terracotta shades in 2023, used in everything from paint colours to soft furnishings. Whilst we disagree with the term 'trend' when it comes to the use of earth tones in the home, this is still music to our ears... After all, nature-inspired interiors are what we do best!

Formal Accents for a Touch of Sophistication

While the laid-back mid-century luxe trend is still going strong, we're also seeing a resurgence of formal accents. Think elegant, classic pieces like chandeliers, ornate mirrors, and antique-inspired furniture. These elements add a touch of sophistication to any space and work well alongside the more relaxed mid-century pieces.

Brutalism Makes an Appearance

Although we're not expecting to see full-blown brutalism taking over our interiors, we are seeing hints of it creeping in. Raw, unfinished stone edges (yes please!), and concrete floors are being incorporated into spaces as a nod to the trend. Expect to see more concrete accent pieces and structural elements like exposed beams, all in a bid to create a more industrial, raw feel.

Marble as an Architectural Detail

Marble has been a staple material in interior design for years, but in 2023, we're seeing it used in a new way - as an architectural detail. Think marble wrapped around doorways, used as skirting, and even as a statement feature on various surfaces. This trend adds a touch of opulence to any setting and elevates marble from traditional material to something fresh and contemporary. Statement Glass Takes Center Stage

Statement glass is a continued favourite amongst interior designers in 2023, and it's no surprise. From beautiful Murano glass chandeliers to hand-crafted objects, natural materials are being crafted into exquisite works of art. Glass is being used as a decorative feature in the most exciting ways and we are here for it.

Goodbye Fast Furniture and Statement Shelves

We're all becoming more aware of the impact we have on the environment, and in 2023, we're waving goodbye to fast furniture and over-populated shelves. Instead, we're seeing a rise in statement and investment pieces that will last a lifetime. Shelves featuring a multitude of unpurposeful objects are also on their way out. Displaying everything from books to plants and artwork is now being replaced with a less is more approach. Think curated and a display for art!
